Safety tips
Evergreen habits we teach on every driveway visit — keep these handy between appointments.
Safety guide
Car seats work in stages. We install and coach each one in your driveway so the harness, recline, and belt path match your child and your vehicle.
Stage 1
Best protection for a baby’s head, neck, and spine. (Rear-facing only, or a convertible used rear-facing.)
What we check on every visit:
Ready for the next seat: when your baby hits the infant seat’s height or weight limit, move to a larger rear-facing seat — still rear-facing.
Stage 2
Keep rear-facing as long as the seat allows — at least until 2 years and 30 lbs, and longer is safer (many kids stay rear-facing to 3 or 4 if they still fit).
What we check:
Ready for the next seat: only when your child outgrows the rear-facing height/weight limits on the label. Waiting until at least age 2 before forward-facing is safest; some seats cannot be used forward-facing before 2.
Stage 3
Spreads crash forces over the strongest parts of the body after your child outgrows rear-facing.
What we check:
Ready for the next seat: stay in a 5-point harness until at least 18 kg (40 lb), and longer if the seat allows. Before a booster, your child must sit straight for the whole ride without moving around or unbuckling. Some harness seats safely hold kids to 5, 6, or even 7.
Stage 4
A booster lifts your child so the vehicle seat belt fits the strong bones — lap low on the hips, shoulder belt between neck and shoulder. Minimum about 18 kg (40 lb) and able to sit correctly.
What we check:
Ready for seat belt alone — all 5 must be yes, on every ride, in that vehicle:
Until then, keep the booster. Kids are safest in the back seat until 13.
Safety
Two Transport Canada recalls affect seats we install for families.
Affected Canadian models, roughly 2020–2023: B-Safe 35, B-Safe 35 Gen2, B-Safe 35 Gen2 FlexFit, B-Safe Ultra, and Endeavours. The carry-handle screws can loosen and the handle can come off.
You can keep using the seat in your vehicle. Lift and carry the seat by the shell only, not by the handle. Check whether your seat is affected at crshubrecall.com (choose Canada) using the model number and date of manufacture under the seat or base. Questions: Bsafecampaign26@britax.com.
Transport Canada notice: https://recalls-rappels.canada.ca/en/alert-recall/transport-canada-recall-2026399-britax
Affected Canadian models: REO Brookline (CS260212521C) and REO Danvers (CS260212538C), built February 2025 through June 2026. As of today the repair kit is still not available from Evenflo. If you have one of these seats, register with Evenflo Canada ParentLink at 1-800-265-0749 or parentlink@evenflo.com so they can reach you when the kit ships.
Book a mobile check. We’ll look at the model number and date sticker in your driveway — it takes a minute, and an in-person install check catches things a web page can’t.
